DNA Microarrays are powerful tools to analyze genomes in vivo.

Example applications include studying:

  • Differences in normal and cancer tissues;
  • Deregulated cellular pathways following experimental treatment;
  • Genetic pathways (e.g., knock-out mouse)

The Genomics Core is located in the Lineberger Cancer Center room 11-139 and provides the following services:

1. RNA measurements: RNA concentration, RNA quality check and microRNA concentration estimate

2. Gene Expression: RNA labeling, amplification and hybridization to microarray

3. MicroRNA: RNA dephosphorylation, labeling and hybridization

4. Comparative Genomic Hybridizayion (CGH): genomic DNA digestion, labeling and hybridization

5. Bioinformatics: offered at all stages of microarray analysis - from help with experimental design to help with analysis of data including generation of gene list and cluster analysis, Contact Bioinformatics support

6. Equipment: Axon Scanner is available for use in Core lab. Normalization software (GenePix 5.0) is available to install on your lab computers. Dangle is available for check-out - required to save your numeric results.
