Free to Breathe Lung Cancer 5K

A UNC team braved the cold on November 3 to take part in the  first-ever  Free to Breathe Lung Cancer 5K . UNC Lineberger and Rex Cancer Center helped to sponsor the event that netted over $85,000 for the National Lung Cancer Partnership to fund research into lung cancer. The Partnership’s mission is to decrease deaths due to lung cancer, and help patients live longer and better, through research, awareness, and advocacy

The Wilson family participated in the race as a tribute to their late daughter Katherine, who would have celebrated her 31st birthday on November 3. Katherine died of lung cancer in 2005.
