UNC offers film screen and digital mammography. Digital mammography is appropriate
for women with dense breasts (primarily women who have not yet reached menopause).
UNC is a leader in digital mammography. Dr. Etta Pisano, Professor of Radiology
and Director of the Biomedical Research Imaging Center, led the international
trial to evaluate digital mammography. To learn more about digital mammography,
